Trek Madone 5.2
History
After several years of mountain biking I decided to get a road bike in 1992. It was in the late season and I got a good deal for a Trek 5200 from my local bike shop. I rode the 5200 as my main training bike and commuter until 2000. After that, it remained the bike getting me to and from work daily until the driveside chainstay developed hairline cracks in 2006. I brought it in to the local Trek dealer and got a warranty replacement without having to show any proof of purchase. Trek was going to give me a Trek Madone 5.2 and let me pick the color of the frame. About a week later, the frame was ready for pick-up. To thank the shop for the great service, I bought a headset, a handlebar, the stem and seatpost for the bike. All the remaining components came from the broken 5200 and it stayed like that until 2009 when I gave the bike a nice upgrade by putting Shimano’s new 6700 Ultegra groupset on it. As it’s setup it’s being ridden to work every day. It also serves as my winter training bike for short out&back hill climbs in the dark. Absolutely like this bike - it just fits and it’s incredibly comfortable.
