EBB, Noise and Teflon Tape
My Niner One9 has been out on the trails almost daily and its EBB is telling me each time that I’m pushing a hard gear up those steep trails. Greased and tightened to spec - it creaks. Teflon tape with grease - it creaks. All cleaned and assembled with Teflon tape only - it still creaks. I wonder if a different position of the set-screws, like Crisp is doing it, would not create such noise. The Niner’s set-screw position pushes the EBB up- and backwards in the EBB shell while pedal and chain forces will pull down- and backwards. Well, the One9 is a fun ride, but an annoyingly loud one.
