Bike Build Continues
Today, another part got delivered by the yellow van - a Rotor S2 stem in 120mm length. Unlike all other stems on the market, Rotor uses special dual-thread pitch bolts for the faceplate as well as the steerer clamp. Rotor call them DTT bolts and they resemble basic set screws. The faceplate is pulled towards the stem when tightening due to the two different thread pitches so there’s no head on the bolt required. It’s a nifty design which also reduces the overall weight. It can be a bit tricky to assemble as the bolts need to be flush with the base plate at just the right tightening torque. A couple of tries will be necessary, I’m sure. The stem is amazingly light and the machining quality is excellent. If it will handle the hard handlebar pulls while singlespeeding has to be seen.
