The type of computers I’ve owned and the way I’m using them has changed. There used to be a tall desktop PC with lots of hard drives, floppy and zip drives, CD-ROMs, lots of USB and Firewire ports - and it collects dust now. A powerful Macbook Pro took its place and sits on the desk attached to a large LCD screen and a 1TB external drive for music and Time Machine. But what apps do I run all the time? I have Office - and never use it. There’s iTunes to stream music to my iPhone, which passes the sound to my TV. The app that’s always open is my browser, and that’s where everything has gone. Communication? Facebook, Twitter, forums … Photos? Flickr, Picasa, Skitch … I think 95% of the stuff I do can be done on an iPad. I want one!
