Niner One 9
History
Back in 2006 I was living in Santa Rosa, California and spent my riding miles almost exclusively on the road. That year my wife and I decided to move to Switzerland. As I had spent a good part of my life there and had gotten into mountain biking there, I knew that my skinny tires would soon be replaced by fat knobbies. My MTBs had reached a respectable age, so it made sense to acquire a new rig before the move. I didn’t have to think much about what it was going to be - singlespeed, rigid and with 29 inch wheels. As this was the first 29er and my first mountain bike with disc brakes, I opted to get a good, but affordable frame and equip it with decent components. I didn’t have to look around a lot to find the frame of my choice, it was a tang Niner One9. As soon as I had the frame in the early summer of 06, I started buying all the parts over a period of a couple months. Once together, I took it out for a spin through my local regional park and was immediately hooked. This bike was a pure joy to ride. Fit was perfect and handling was awesome. We moved to Switzerland where I’ve been riding it ever since.
