Niner Air 9 Carbon
History
In 2006 I made the switch to big wheels with a Niner One 9. That bike was built with good parts, but being my first 29er, it was built on a reasonable budget. The One 9 was and is an awesome bike, so when Niner first presented the Air 9 Carbon with pretty much the identical geometry, I wasn’t going to look elsewhere for a new 29er. Frame and fork were ordered in November 2009 and then began the long wait. The frame was delayed several times until it finally arrived in the end August of 2010. By that time, all necessary components had been purchased, so it didn’t take too long to build it up and enjoy a few last warm days before the wetter and snowier seasons approached. I rode the bike until the beginning of February 2011, when I had an issue with the BB shell. It was quickly resolved and a month later I was on a new Air 9 Carbon frame. The new frame was equipped with new headset bearings and Syntace’s new P6 HiFlex carbon seatpost and is ready for the 2011 biking season.
